About the Class
Ready to take your first step into dressmaking or continue building your skills? Our Make Your Own Clothes Class - Beginner & Beyond is a supportive, mixed-ability sewing class where you can work on your own garment project with expert guidance at every stage. This class is perfect whether you are completely new to sewing clothes, have just finished a beginner course, or already have some experience and want dedicated time and support to keep progressing. Unlike a fixed project course, this is a student-led class, meaning you choose what you’d like to make and we help you bring it to life. ✂️ New to dressmaking? We’ve made it easy If you’re not sure what to make, you can add one of our sewing kits to your booking. Each kit includes everything you need for your project and is carefully matched to your experience level. For complete beginners, we recommend: • Stevie sewing kit • Samara sewing kit • Jamie sewing kit For confident beginners: • Nell sewing kit • Ramona sewing kit For improvers: • Noa sewing kit • Thea sewing kit Simply add your chosen kit from the shop page when booking your class, or bring your own project if you prefer. What you’ll learn In this relaxed, supportive class, we will help you: • Choose and understand a suitable sewing pattern • How to pick the right size, and take your measurements • Learn key symbols, markings and dressmaking terminology • Cut out your fabric with accuracy and confidence • Construct your garment step by step • Start to make fit adjustments • Build confidence using your sewing machine Because the class is taught in small groups (max 8), everyone is supported at their own level and pace. What you’ll need • Basic sewing kit (pins, scissors, unpicker, tailor’s chalk, thread etc.) also available in our shop • Your chosen project (pattern and fabric) or one of our sewing kits • Fabric should be pre-washed where appropriate ✔ Use of our fully equipped studio ✔ Janome sewing machines and overlockers provided ✔ Expert tuition and support throughout What you’ll achieve By the end of your block, you will: • Have made excellent progress on your garment • Understand how to follow a sewing pattern • Feel more confident using your sewing machine • Have the skills to continue sewing independently You may or may not finish your garment during class time. However, you will gain the knowledge and confidence to complete it at home. Some students like to sew between sessions, but this is completely optional.

Cancellation Policy
By booking a course or workshop with Ready Steady Sew, you are agreeing to the terms outlined in this cancellation policy. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us prior to booking. Please head to the Cancellation Policy header in the menu tab to view our full policy. Cancellation Due to Non-Attendance We understand that sometimes circumstances change, but we ask for your cooperation with our cancellation policy: Cancellations must be made at least 14 working days before the course start date to receive a full refund. 14 days or less notice: 50% of the course fee will be refunded. 7 days or less before the course start date: 100% of the course fee will be charged Non-attendance without prior notice will result in no refund. To cancel your place, please email us at readysteadysew@hotmail.com as soon as possible. All cancellations must be received in writing via email. Refunds will be processed the same day that you request it. However, please note that the processing time is dependent on Wix Payments (our payment provider) and your bank. We have no control over how long it takes for the funds to appear in your account, but it can take up to 20 business days in total, depending on your bank's processing times. No Refunds for Partially Attended Courses There will be no refunds for partially attended courses. If you decide that the course is not for you after attending part of it, you will not be eligible for a refund. We encourage you to make sure the course is right for you before booking. Transfers to Future Classes If you need to transfer to a future class, you must notify us at least 14 working days before the class start date. Unfortunately, we cannot accept transfer requests within 14 days of the class start date. We are unable to transfer bookings after this time frame as it's not long enough for us to refill your spot, and it takes a spot away from a future student. As a small business, we rely on full classes to remain sustainable, and offering transfers to everyone who requests them would result in under-booked classes. We encourage you to ensure you're available for the dates of the course you book. Once a spot is reserved, it is committed to you, and we cannot accommodate changes to future sessions regardless of the reason.
