Refunds, Returns & Warranty Policy

At Ready Steady Sew, we want you to be completely happy with your purchase or booking. This policy explains your rights and our procedures regarding refunds, returns, cancellations, and warranties.

 

1. General Information

• This policy applies to purchases made online, by phone, or in person at our studio.

• Nothing in this policy affects your statutory rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 or the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013.

• If you have any questions about your order or wish to make a return, please contact us.

 

2. Sewing Machines

We want you to love your new sewing machine and feel confident in your choice.

• If you change your mind about a sewing machine purchased from us, you have 14 days from the day you receive it to let us know you wish to cancel. You then have a further 14 days to return it.

• Returned machines must be unused, in as-new condition, and in their original packaging with all accessories, manuals, and parts included.

• If the outer box has been damaged on opening and the machine has been used or threaded, it will be classed as used and we cannot accept it for a change-of-mind return or refund.

• This does not affect your rights if the machine is faulty or misdescribed — in that case, we will arrange repair, replacement, or refund in accordance with your statutory rights.

Try Before You Buy: We keep demo machines at our studio and highly recommend visiting to test different models before purchasing, so you can be sure the machine is right for you.

 

3. Janome Sewing Machine Warranty

All new Janome sewing machines purchased through Ready Steady Sew come with a 2-year manufacturer’s warranty covering parts and labour for domestic use, in accordance with Janome UK’s warranty terms.

• This warranty covers manufacturing defects and faults that occur during normal household use.

• The warranty does not cover:

  • Wear and tear or cosmetic damage

  • Damage caused by misuse, neglect, or improper maintenance

  • Faults resulting from commercial or teaching use

  • Damage caused by unauthorised repairs or modifications

• Some models may have different warranty periods; full details are included in the documentation supplied with each machine.

• Customers can purchase an optional extended warranty to increase coverage up to five years. Machines typically must be registered with Janome UK within 30 days of purchase.

• Warranties are valid only for the original purchaser and are non-transferable. Proof of purchase is required for all warranty claims.

If you experience a fault with your machine, please contact us and we’ll advise on the next steps, including arranging inspection or repair through an authorised Janome service centre.

 

4. Fabric & Haberdashery

• For online purchases, you have a 14-day cooling-off period after receiving your order to notify us if you wish to cancel.

• Returned items must be unused and in their original condition and packaging.

• Fabric cut to your chosen length, or any custom-cut or special-order items, are non-returnable unless faulty or misdescribed.

• If goods are faulty, damaged, or not as described, we’ll arrange a replacement, exchange, or refund in line with the Consumer Rights Act 2015.

• Customers are responsible for return postage costs unless the goods are faulty.

 

5. Classes, Courses & Workshops

By booking a class or workshop with Ready Steady Sew, you agree to the following cancellation terms:

• Cancellations must be made in writing via email to readysteadysew@hotmail.com.

• 14 working days or more before the class start date – full refund.

• Between 14 and 7 working days before the start date – 50% refund.

• 7 working days or less before the start date – no refund.

• Non-attendance without prior notice – no refund.

• Refunds are processed on the same day they are requested, though bank and payment provider processing times may take up to 20 business days.

 

Transfers:

• You may transfer to another class if you contact us at least 14 working days before the start date.

• Transfers are subject to availability.

• We cannot accept transfer requests within 14 days of the class date.

 

Partially Attended Courses:

• There are no refunds for partially attended courses.

 

Course Cancellation by Us:

• If we cancel or reschedule a class, you’ll receive at least one week’s notice and can choose to either transfer to another date or receive a full refund.

• We are not liable for additional costs such as fabric, notions, or travel expenses.

 

6. Faulty Goods

If any item you purchase is faulty or not as described:

• You are entitled to a full refund within 30 days of purchase.

• After 30 days (and up to 6 months), you are entitled to a repair or replacement. If that is not possible, you may be offered a refund or price reduction.

• We will cover the cost of return postage for faulty items.

 

7. How to Request a Return or Refund

Contact us via our website or email us with:

• Your order number

• Details of the item(s)

• The reason for return

We’ll respond with instructions and next steps for your return or refund.

 

8. Summary

• Sewing machines: returnable only if unused and in original packaging; try demo machines before buying.

• Janome warranty: 2-year manufacturer’s warranty for domestic use; some models may vary; optional extended warranty available.

• Fabric & haberdashery: returnable within 14 days if unused; custom cuts non-returnable.
