About the Class

Our course has three levels, each taking six weeks to complete. Most students start at Level 1, perfect for complete beginners or those feeling a little rusty. Across six friendly, supportive sessions, we guide you step by step through the essential skills you need to start making your own clothes with confidence. In Level 1, you will learn to use a sewing machine confidently, and how to use a pattern, sew key seams and darts, insert an invisible zip, attach a waistband, add pockets, and construct your own skirt. This level lays the foundation for all your future dressmaking projects. Once you’ve completed Level 1, you can continue to Level 2, where we build on the skills you’ve already learnt and introduce new techniques while making trousers. You’ll practise pleats, waistbands, buttonholes, and different types of pockets, giving you more confidence and skill with garment construction. Level 3 continues this progression, guiding you through more techniques as you create a shirt. You’ll practise darts, sleeves, cuffs, collars, leaving you with a fully constructed garment and the skills to confidently take on new projects at home. You can join our classes at any level, but we recommend starting at Level 1 to get the most from the course. Each class always includes a mix of Level 1, 2, and 3 students, so whatever your level, you can benefit from the group dynamic while learning at the right pace. ✔ Small, supportive group (5–12 students) ✔ Step-by-step teaching every week ✔ Sewing machines available to use in class ✔ Friendly, encouraging environment for all abilities Classes are paced to give plenty of time for questions and one-to-one guidance. By the end of your chosen level, you’ll not only have completed a project but also gained the confidence to continue sewing at home and explore your own ideas. Many students leave the course surprised at how much they’ve achieved in just six weeks. If you’ve been thinking about learning to sew but keep putting it off, this is your sign to start. There’s never a perfect time only the moment you decide to begin. Feeling nervous is completely normal, and our structured, friendly approach is designed to help you feel comfortable, capable, and proud of what you create. What you’ll need: Bring a sewing machine and a basic kit (pins, scissors, tailor’s chalk) if you have one, or use one of ours. All fabric, zips, and other materials are provided, along with printed instructions to keep as your dressmaking manual.

Cancellation Policy

By booking a course or workshop with Ready Steady Sew, you are agreeing to the terms outlined in this cancellation policy. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us prior to booking. Please head to the Cancellation Policy header in the menu tab to view our full policy. Cancellation Due to Non-Attendance We understand that sometimes circumstances change, but we ask for your cooperation with our cancellation policy: Cancellations must be made at least 14 working days before the course start date to receive a full refund. 14 days or less notice: 50% of the course fee will be refunded. 7 days or less before the course start date: 100% of the course fee will be charged Non-attendance without prior notice will result in no refund. To cancel your place, please email us at readysteadysew@hotmail.com as soon as possible. All cancellations must be received in writing via email. Refunds will be processed the same day that you request it. However, please note that the processing time is dependent on Wix Payments (our payment provider) and your bank. We have no control over how long it takes for the funds to appear in your account, but it can take up to 20 business days in total, depending on your bank's processing times. No Refunds for Partially Attended Courses There will be no refunds for partially attended courses. If you decide that the course is not for you after attending part of it, you will not be eligible for a refund. We encourage you to make sure the course is right for you before booking. Transfers to Future Classes If you need to transfer to a future class, you must notify us at least 14 working days before the class start date. Unfortunately, we cannot accept transfer requests within 14 days of the class start date. We are unable to transfer bookings after this time frame as it's not long enough for us to refill your spot, and it takes a spot away from a future student. As a small business, we rely on full classes to remain sustainable, and offering transfers to everyone who requests them would result in under-booked classes. We encourage you to ensure you're available for the dates of the course you book. Once a spot is reserved, it is committed to you, and we cannot accommodate changes to future sessions regardless of the reason.
