About the Class
Back by popular demand! After selling out two workshops last year, our Sequin Sweatshirt Workshop is back. Join us to create the Drew Sweatshirt by Tilly and the Buttons, featuring stunning sequin raglan sleeves. Combining cosy sweatshirt fabric with a touch of sparkle, this is the perfect project for parties, special occasions or simply adding a bit of glamour to your everyday wardrobe. Throughout the day you'll learn techniques for sewing with both stretch sweatshirt fabrics and sequins, with plenty of tips to help you achieve a professional finish. Whether you prefer to sew on a regular sewing machine or an overlocker, this garment can be created using either. Skills You'll Learn Sewing with sweatshirt fabrics Sewing with stretch sequin fabric Constructing raglan sleeves Applying ribbing to the neckline, cuffs and hem Reducing bulk for a professional finish Tips for sewing sequins successfully Skill Level Adventurous beginner and up Suitable for sewists who are confident using a sewing machine and have made at least one garment before. Please bring: Drew Sweatshirt printed paper pattern by Tilly and the Buttons Sweatshirt fabric and stretch sequin fabric for the sleeves Ribbing Matching thread Please refer to the pattern for fabric quantities and all required notions. Alternatively why not add on one of our sequin sweatshirt fabric kits (available on our website soon) To help you get the most from the workshop, please arrive with your pattern pieces and fabric already cut out. If you're unsure which size to cut, don't worry. Contact us before the workshop and we'll be happy to help you choose the correct size. As part of the construction process, we'll be trimming the sequins back from the seam allowances. This creates flatter seams, makes the sweatshirt much more comfortable to wear, helps prevent broken needles, and gives a cleaner, more professional finish. We'll show you exactly how to do this during the workshop, so don't forget your scissors!
