About the Class
Zips are a crucial element of many sewing projects, but they can be intimidating if you don’t know the right techniques. In this hands-on workshop, we’ll guide you through the process of sewing in three different types of zips, giving you the confidence and skills to tackle zips in any garment. You’ll have the chance to choose between an invisible zip, a trouser zip, and an open-ended zip (for jackets) – all essential skills for any sewist! During the workshop, you’ll focus on two types of zips, with plenty of time to practice and perfect your technique. Whether you're making dresses, trousers, skirts, or jackets, we’ll help you master these essential skills so that you can confidently sew zips into your garments. The class includes detailed instructions and all the materials you need to complete your projects, including fabric and zips to practice on. You’ll also receive a comprehensive handout that covers all three types of zips, so you can try the third zip at home and continue practicing once the workshop is complete. What You Will Learn: Invisible Zips: Learn the secrets to installing invisible zips for a clean, professional finish on dresses and skirts. Trouser Zips: Master the technique for sewing zips into trousers and jeans Open-Ended Zips: Gain the skills to tackle open-ended zips, ideal for jackets, coats, and outerwear. Throughout the session, you'll receive step-by-step guidance, helping you understand the different zips and the techniques involved in installing them. You’ll have the opportunity to sew in two zips during the class, with support and advice from the instructor at every step. By the end of the workshop, you'll leave feeling confident in your zip-sewing abilities and ready to tackle more complex projects on your own. What You’ll Need to Bring: A basic sewing kit (scissors, pins, seam ripper, etc.) All materials needed for the class will be provided, including the zips and fabric to practice with and a sewing machine. Cancellation Policy
By booking a course or workshop with Ready Steady Sew, you are agreeing to the terms outlined in this cancellation policy. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us prior to booking. Please head to the Cancellation Policy header in the menu tab to view our full policy. Cancellation Due to Non-Attendance We understand that sometimes circumstances change, but we ask for your cooperation with our cancellation policy: Cancellations must be made at least 14 working days before the course start date to receive a full refund. 14 days or less notice: 50% of the course fee will be refunded. 7 days or less before the course start date: 100% of the course fee will be charged Non-attendance without prior notice will result in no refund. To cancel your place, please email us at readysteadysew@hotmail.com as soon as possible. All cancellations must be received in writing via email. Refunds will be processed the same day that you request it. However, please note that the processing time is dependent on Wix Payments (our payment provider) and your bank. We have no control over how long it takes for the funds to appear in your account, but it can take up to 20 business days in total, depending on your bank's processing times. No Refunds for Partially Attended Courses There will be no refunds for partially attended courses. If you decide that the course is not for you after attending part of it, you will not be eligible for a refund. We encourage you to make sure the course is right for you before booking. Transfers to Future Classes If you need to transfer to a future class, you must notify us at least 14 working days before the class start date. Unfortunately, we cannot accept transfer requests within 14 days of the class start date. We are unable to transfer bookings after this time frame as it's not long enough for us to refill your spot, and it takes a spot away from a future student. As a small business, we rely on full classes to remain sustainable, and offering transfers to everyone who requests them would result in under-booked classes. We encourage you to ensure you're available for the dates of the course you book. Once a spot is reserved, it is committed to you, and we cannot accommodate changes to future sessions regardless of the reason.
