Join us for a full day of bag making and create your own stylish crossbody bag using the popular Athena Crossbody pattern by Knot and Thread Design. This practical little bag is perfect for everyday use, travel, festivals, or simply keeping your essentials close to hand. With multiple pockets, professional hardware and a fully lined finish, it’s a brilliant introduction to structured bag making techniques. Designed for confident beginners and beyond, this workshop is ideal if you’re ready to move on from simple sewing projects and learn new construction skills in a supportive environment. What You’ll Learn Working with interfacing and stabilisers to give structure and shape Installing bag hardware including D-rings and adjustable straps Sewing zips neatly and confidently Creating lined pockets and compartments Constructing a fully lined crossbody bag Topstitching techniques for a professional finish Tips for reducing bulk and achieving clean edges Working with multiple layers and thicker materials Skill level You should already be comfortable using a sewing machine independently, including threading your machine and sewing accurately with a seam allowance. If you’ve made garments, zip pouches or simple accessories before, you’ll be absolutely fine. What You'll Need A copy of the pattern/ instructions - we suggest purchasing the PDF version as there are no pattern pieces All materials listed on the back of the pattern - please get in touch if you'd like us to make you a kit for this class Please Note Everyone sews at a different pace. You may or may not finish your bag during the workshop, but you’ll leave with the skills and confidence to complete it at home.

Cancellation Policy – Classes & Workshops By booking a class or workshop with Ready Steady Sew, you agree to the terms outlined below. Please read carefully before booking. Booking & Payment All classes and workshops must be paid for in full at the time of booking to secure your place. Cancellations & Refunds Please check dates carefully before booking. As our classes run on specific dates and spaces are limited, all bookings are non-refundable We are unable to offer refunds if you are no longer able to attend, regardless of the reason. This includes illness, work commitments, or changes in personal circumstances. If You Are Unable to Attend If for any reason you are unable to attend, please contact us as soon as possible. We will always try to find someone to take your place as a goodwill gesture, however this is not guaranteed and we are not contractually obliged to do so If we are able to fill your space, we may offer you the option to move to a future class If we are unable to fill your space, your booking will remain non-refundable and non-transferable You are also welcome to send someone in your place. Please let us know their name and contact details in advance Non-Attendance Failure to attend your class will result in the loss of your booking No refunds or alternatives will be offered Partially Attended Courses We do not offer refunds or alternatives for partially attended courses or workshops, please ensure you can come to all dates If We Need to Cancel In the unlikely event that we need to cancel or reschedule a class: We will aim to give at least one week’s notice where possible, however in some circumstances this may be less You will be offered a full refund, or The option to move to an alternative date Please note that we are not liable for any additional costs or losses incurred, including but not limited to travel, accommodation, or purchased materials and fabrics. As a small business, we rely on full classes to remain sustainable, and offering transfers or refunds to everyone who requests them would result in under-booked classes. We encourage you to ensure you're available for the dates of the course you book. Once a spot is reserved, it is committed to you, and we cannot accommodate changes to future sessions regardless of the reason.
