About the Class
Are you intimidated by your overlocker? Does the tension setting leave you confused? Are you nervous about rethreading or making adjustments? Perhaps you've heard about this fantastic machine and would love to have a go before investing in your own. Don’t worry! Join me for this hands-on beginners overlocker workshop where we’ll tackle all your overlocker fears in a fun and relaxed setting. By the end of the session, you’ll feel confident and ready to use your overlocker like a pro. What you will learn: ● How to thread and rethread your overlocker with ease ● Troubleshooting tension issues and how to fix them ● Adjusting your cutting width and stitch length for the perfect finish ● Getting to know the different parts of your overlocker ● Switching between 2 and 3 threads, and how to change your needles ● Proper techniques for starting, stopping, and finishing seams ● How to chain pieces together seamlessly ● Sewing curves and various shapes ● Disengaging the blade when needed ● Understanding the differential feed function (if your machine has it) ● Make a basic tshirt or long sleeved top to showcase your skills What you need to bring: ●Bring your own machine or use one of our amazing Janome machines. ●A basic sewing kit ●A copy of the Closet Core - Core T-shirt pattern (it's free!) ●Enough jersey to make your tshirt from (check the pattern instructions) Please note: Since we allow participants to bring their own overlockers, we won’t be covering more advanced stitches specific to individual models. If you'd like to explore more advanced features, you can book a 1-2-1 session to focus on your machine. Important: Your overlocker should be in good working order with the correct power cable, and please remember to bring your manual. If your machine is new, make sure it’s working properly before the workshop, as some machines from certain supermarkets may not be working straight out the box.

Cancellation Policy – Classes & Workshops By booking a class or workshop with Ready Steady Sew, you agree to the terms outlined below. Please read carefully before booking. Booking & Payment All classes and workshops must be paid for in full at the time of booking to secure your place. Cancellations & Refunds Please check dates carefully before booking. As our classes run on specific dates and spaces are limited, all bookings are non-refundable We are unable to offer refunds if you are no longer able to attend, regardless of the reason. This includes illness, work commitments, or changes in personal circumstances. If You Are Unable to Attend If for any reason you are unable to attend, please contact us as soon as possible. We will always try to find someone to take your place as a goodwill gesture, however this is not guaranteed and we are not contractually obliged to do so If we are able to fill your space, we may offer you the option to move to a future class If we are unable to fill your space, your booking will remain non-refundable and non-transferable You are also welcome to send someone in your place. Please let us know their name and contact details in advance Non-Attendance Failure to attend your class will result in the loss of your booking No refunds or alternatives will be offered Partially Attended Courses We do not offer refunds or alternatives for partially attended courses or workshops, please ensure you can come to all dates If We Need to Cancel In the unlikely event that we need to cancel or reschedule a class: We will aim to give at least one week’s notice where possible, however in some circumstances this may be less You will be offered a full refund, or The option to move to an alternative date Please note that we are not liable for any additional costs or losses incurred, including but not limited to travel, accommodation, or purchased materials and fabrics. As a small business, we rely on full classes to remain sustainable, and offering transfers or refunds to everyone who requests them would result in under-booked classes. We encourage you to ensure you're available for the dates of the course you book. Once a spot is reserved, it is committed to you, and we cannot accommodate changes to future sessions regardless of the reason.
