About the Class
Do you have clothes that don’t quite fit? Maybe your favourite pair of jeans are too long, or a dress needs a new zip? In this hands-on alterations workshop, you’ll learn essential techniques to alter your garments and make them fit perfectly. Whether you're looking to shorten a hem, take in the waist, or replace a broken zip, this workshop will give you the confidence to handle common alterations on your own. You’ll learn three key techniques: Shortening Garments: Learn how to shorten trousers, skirts, or dresses. We’ll cover the best methods for different fabrics, ensuring your hems look clean and professional every time. Taking in the Waist: We’ll show you how to adjust the waistline on trousers, skirts, and dresses for a more flattering fit. Taking in the waist on jeans isn’t recommended, but other trousers are perfect! For dresses, it’s best to choose sleeveless ones for this workshop. Replacing or Installing a Zip: Got a broken zip? No problem! We’ll teach you how to replace or install a new zip in your garments, saving your favourite clothes from being relegated to the back of your closet. What to Bring: Please bring 1 to 3 garments to alter. It's best to choose unlined garments for this 2-hour workshop. Bring everyday wear (e.g. trousers, skirts, tops) and avoid formal garments like prom or wedding dresses. Taking in the waist on jeans isn’t recommended, but other trousers work fine. If you're bringing a dress to take in, please ensure it is sleeveless. If you're unsure about what to bring please contact us before the workshop, and we’ll help you decide the best garments to bring and what materials you'll need. This workshop is perfect for anyone who wants to learn how to alter their clothes, and refresh their wardrobe. You’ll get expert guidance while working on your clothing and leave with practical skills to apply to future projects. What You’ll Need to Bring: A basic sewing kit (scissors, pins, thread, unpicker, etc.) Up to 3 garments for alteration (refer to the guidelines above) You don't need your sewing machine as you can use of our incredible studio machines Skill level: Stitch Starter for simple alterations otherwise Fabric Fanatic (Confident Beginner) upwards

Cancellation Policy
By booking a course or workshop with Ready Steady Sew, you are agreeing to the terms outlined in this cancellation policy. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us prior to booking. Please head to the Cancellation Policy header in the menu tab to view our full policy. Cancellation Due to Non-Attendance We understand that sometimes circumstances change, but we ask for your cooperation with our cancellation policy: Cancellations must be made at least 14 working days before the course start date to receive a full refund. 14 days or less notice: 50% of the course fee will be refunded. 7 days or less before the course start date: 100% of the course fee will be charged Non-attendance without prior notice will result in no refund. To cancel your place, please email us at readysteadysew@hotmail.com as soon as possible. All cancellations must be received in writing via email. Refunds will be processed the same day that you request it. However, please note that the processing time is dependent on Wix Payments (our payment provider) and your bank. We have no control over how long it takes for the funds to appear in your account, but it can take up to 20 business days in total, depending on your bank's processing times. No Refunds for Partially Attended Courses There will be no refunds for partially attended courses. If you decide that the course is not for you after attending part of it, you will not be eligible for a refund. We encourage you to make sure the course is right for you before booking. Transfers to Future Classes If you need to transfer to a future class, you must notify us at least 14 working days before the class start date. Unfortunately, we cannot accept transfer requests within 14 days of the class start date. We are unable to transfer bookings after this time frame as it's not long enough for us to refill your spot, and it takes a spot away from a future student. As a small business, we rely on full classes to remain sustainable, and offering transfers to everyone who requests them would result in under-booked classes. We encourage you to ensure you're available for the dates of the course you book. Once a spot is reserved, it is committed to you, and we cannot accommodate changes to future sessions regardless of the reason.
