About the Class

There’s nothing quite like slipping into a pair of handmade pyjamas, especially when you’ve chosen the fabric yourself! Join me for a weekend of sewing and make your own pyjama set, tailored to your style and taste. Whether you love classic stripes, pretty prints or something a little more playful, there are plenty of lovely fabrics in the Ready Steady Sew shop that would be perfect for your next favourite pair of pyjamas. You’ll make your own pyjama top and bottoms, choosing between the Fran Pyjamas or the Carolyn Pyjamas by Closet Core Patterns, depending on the style you fancy making. Both patterns offer a great opportunity to develop your dressmaking skills while creating something practical that you’ll actually want to wear. From constructing your garments to working through the finishing details, I’ll guide you through the process and help you achieve a lovely handmade result. Throughout the weekend, you’ll build your confidence with garment construction and learn techniques that you can use in future dressmaking projects. Depending on your chosen pattern, these may include: Sewing a collar and button stand Sewing and finishing seams neatly. Working with waistbands and elastic. Creating professional-looking finishes for your handmade garments. Following a commercial sewing pattern and understanding its instructions. To make preparing for the workshop as easy as possible, you can purchase a pyjama-making kit from the Ready Steady Sew shop. Kits include the fabric and haberdashery needed for your project, making it easier to get everything together before the workshop. You'll need to purchase your chosen sewing pattern separately, either the Fran Pyjamas or the Carolyn Pyjamas by Closet Core Patterns. Please make sure you have your pattern ready before the workshop and check the sizing and fabric requirements before purchasing your kit. To get the most out of the weekend, I recommend arriving with your fabric and pattern pieces already cut out. This means we can spend the entire weekend sewing, with more time to focus on construction, techniques and those all-important finishing details, rather than cutting out at the start. This workshop is ideal for sewists who already have some experience using a sewing machine and are ready to take on a garment-making project. You'll need to be comfortable with the basics of sewing, as we'll be working through a complete set of pyjamas over the weekend. Please bring your sewing kit scissors, pins etc
